Softball Places Four on Sac Bee All-Metro Teams

SACRAMENTO, Calif.  – Senior shortstop Alejandra Garcia and first baseman Amy Marks were named to the Sacramento Bee All-Metro second team announced Thursday.

Garcia posted a .443 batting average with a team-best 35 hits and 30 runs scored for the Troubadours, earning All-Delta River League honors. She was also the winner of the team’s Most Inspirational Award.

Marks, who was also a DRL first-team selection, batted .432 on the season with a team- best 30 RBI. She was the recipient of the Coaches Award.

Classmate Alexis Viramontes, who hit .356 during the season with 24 RBI, was an All-Metro honorable mention selection. She was named the team MVP following the season.

Freshman Rhyann O’Mara was also named to the All-Metro honorable mention team. She led the team among players who played 10 or more games with a .453 average, scoring 28 runs and knocking in runs in her first season.

Viramontes, Garcia and Marks all played in the Optimist All-Star Game on May 29.
