CARMICHAEL, Calif. – A year ago, they were the top two programs in the Delta League with St. Francis winning the league title. The two schools met again Wednesday with Davis taking a 107-63 victory in the varsity meet and 107-60 win in the Frosh-Soph matchup.

“We have a long way to go,” said Head Coach Richard Levin. “Davis is a perennial powerhouse and they showed their stuff. Our senior and junior leadership all showed up today and we had some young swimmers standout.”

Senior Katie McIntee was second in the 200-yard free in 1:59.49 and third in the 100-yard free (56.15), while seniors Emily Peters (25.97) and Chloe Mitchell (26.08) were second and third, respectively, in the 50-free.  Mitchell also placed second in the 500 free in 5:08.07 with Emily Bartylla in third and Sally Ferguson in fifth.

Junior Taylor Koewler was third in the 100 fly (1:01.80) and junior Tatum Roepke was the top finisher in the 100-yard back in second in 1:02.57 with Elizabeth Fugit in fourth (1:02.89). Senior Laila Akhavi was the top placer in the 100-yard breaststroke in third (1:14.47).

Freshman Hannah Parulan showed her bright potential, touching fourth in the 200-yard free (2:04.79).

“This is a great test early season to bring us back to reality and show us our work is not done,” said Levin.

St. Francis finished second in the 200-yard medley relay (Fugit, Koewler, Akhavi and Peters), second the 200-yard free relay (Audrey Camarillo, Mitchell, Samantha Gates and McIntee) and second in the 400-yard free relay (Mitchell, McIntee, Fugit and Peters).

The team will compete at the Woodcreek Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
