Swimming Posts Dual Meet Victories over Sheldon and Folsom

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis swimming team posted a pair of dual meet victories over Folsom and Sheldon Wednesday at the Jesuit High School pool. St. Francis defeated Folsom 106-64 and Sheldon by the score of 140-27.

The Troubadours improved to 3-0 in Delta River League action.

Freshmen Tatum Roepke won the 200 yard freestyle in 2:07.61 and the 100 backstroke in 1:03.78. Junior Emily Piland won the 50 yard freestyle in 26.88 as part of an event sweep that included Sally Ferguson (27.44) in second and Caroline Urkov (27.65) in third. Freshmen Elizabeth Fugit was the top finisher for St. Francis in the 100 yard fly, touching the wall in 1:05.57.

The Troubies also won the 100-yard freestyle with sophomore Chloe Mitchell clocking a 55.67 just ahead of teammate Isabella Smith (56.80).

Other top performances include sophomore Alyssa Tambornini finishing second in the 500-yard freestyle (5:42.07), while freshmen Taylor Koewler was third in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:17.52).

St. Francis returns to the pool Wednesday, April 2 against Pleasant Grove. The meet is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
