Tennis Posts 7-2 Win over Monterey Trail

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Junior Kiya Jackson stepped up to No. 1 singles as St. Francis remained undefeated at 6-0 after the first-half of Delta League play with a 7-2 win over Monterey Trail at the Rio del Oro Racquet Club.

Jackson, who posted a 7-5, 6-2 win over Lisa Cummings, set the tone as all six singles players won in straight sets. Sister Kyla Jackson won at No. 2 and junior Marisa Fat failed to lose a game at No. 3. Senior Abby Benvenuti was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at No. 4, while both senior Annie Gianulias and senior Sabrina Voeller blanked their opponents.

Cameron Parra and Samantha Sonntag partnered to post the only doubles win with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 1.

St. Francis continues its home stand next week with two matches at Rio del Oro Racquet Club, hosting Pleasant Grove on Tuesday and Davis on Thursday. The Booster Club will host their annual BBQ on Thursday for all coaches, players and fans from both schools.
