Tennis Sweeps Sheldon to Improve Win Streak

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Freshman Kiya Jackson led the charge with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles as the St. Francis tennis team posted a 9-0 victory over Sheldon Wednesday afternoon at Rio del Oro Racquet Club. It was the fourth straight win for the team.

St. Francis (5-2) swept all nine matches on the afternoon, dropping a total of 10 games in six singles matches and seven games in three doubles matches.

Freshman Kyla Jackson recorded a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 2, while freshman Marisa Fat defeated Cherry Lini 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3. Sophomore Annie Gianilias was a winner at No. 4 to remain undefeated on the season. Sophomore Abby Benvenuti and junior Eden Elliott also won singles matches.

Each of the three doubles pairings won without dropping a set. Jordaine Tran and Alyse Andre were victorious at No. 1 doubles, while Megan Khan and Cameron Parra and Sabrina Voeller and Kate Neubuerger had straight set wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, respectively.

St. Francis travels to Franklin on Monday, Sept. 22 for a 3:45 p.m. match.
