ELK GROVE, Calif. – Freshman Kyla Jackson pulled out a three-set victory at No. 3 singles to clinch the 5-4 victory over Franklin Monday afternoon for the St. Francis tennis team.

“We knew it was going to be a super tough match,” said Head Coach Kristi Spector.  “For us to pull out the match was huge. They are a really strong team. It was good.”

Franklin defeated Davis earlier this season 8-1, a team St. Francis lost to 6-3.

Freshman Marisa Fat and sophomore Annie Gianulias also posted singles wins. Fat won 6-2, 7-5 over Hallie Wilson at No. 4, while Gianulias defeated Jenny Xue at No. 5 in a come-from-behind three-set win 1-6, 7-5, 6-3 to remain undefeated on the season.

In doubles, Megan Khan and Alyse Andre won a close 7-5, 7-6 (3) battle at No. 2, while Sabrina Voeller and Cameron Parra posted a straight set 6-2, 6-2 won at No. 3.

St. Francis was down 3-1 at one point and had lost every singles first set before rallying.

Tennis returns to the court on Wednesday against Monterey Trail at Rio del Oro Racquet Club. The match starts at 3:45 p.m. and features the St. Francis Booster Q during and following the match for all players and spectators, including the anticipated appearance by the Zoo Student Support group.
