Track and Field Opens Season at Two Events

TURLOCK, Calif. – The Troubadours won two events at the Pitman Distance Wars Friday night in Turlock and had limited but successful participation at the Sacramento State High School Track Classic due to the weather on Saturday.

Senior Ariane Arndt won the 1600 meters in 5:08 among three St. Francis runners in the top five. Sophomore Sydney Vandegrift was third (5:13.48) and Sophie DeBenedetti was fifth (5:23.15). Senior Gabrielle Dyer won the 3200 meters in 12:28.18. Sophomore Ava Nkadi was the top finisher in the 800m in 2:30.70.

At Sacramento State, junior Elizabeth Hennessy was sixth in the 100m hurdles in 16.41 and junior Meaghan Rogers jumped 6-2 to finish fourth. Bother marks were personal-bests despite the difficult weather.

Senior Chase Worthen also competed in two events, finishing fourth in the 800 (2:30.11) and 12th in the 1600m (5:40.20).

The team will host Christian Brothers on Thursday at 3 p.m. There will be a Booster Que provided by the St. Francis Booster Club.
