Track and Field Posts Top Performances at Stanford

PALO ALTO, Calif. – The St. Francis track and field team competed at the Stanford Invitational Friday and Saturday, posting a host of top performances. Senior Kayla O’Brine placed second in the discus, senior Miranda Myers crossed third in the 3000 meters and both relays recorded times among the top in school history.

Myers opened the competition on Friday with a personal best and school record 10:11.30 in the 3000m, placing third overall. Madison Rawson finished 14th in the race. Senior Amanda Schnabel finished eighth in the 400 hurdles in 1:06.62 and Nicole Spring jumped 14-8 to finish 21st.

The St. Francis DMR placed 29th overall in 13:28.10.

Senior Kayla O’Brine highlighted Saturday’s action finishing second in the discus with a throw of 138-6, just six inches short of her personal best and school record. The 4×400-meter relay placed third in 3:56.6, the second-fastest performance in school history. The 4×100-meter relay was fourth in a time of 48.66, the fifth-best time in school history. Ariane Arndt (58.46, 10th) and Sydney Hunter (59.66), 17th) both competed in the 400 meters.

O’Bine and Samantha Ruggles were 11th and 16th in the shot put.

The Troubadours compete again Wednesday at Ponderosa.
