Track and Field Represented at Golden West Invite

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Two student-athletes representing St. Francis competed at the Golden West Invitational Saturday at Hornet Stadium.

Senior Kayla O’Brine competed in her final high school meet participating in both the hammer and discus at the event. She finished second in the hammer with a best throw of 140-11 and was fifth in the discus contested two hours later with a throw of 121-1.

O’Brine will compete for UC Santa Barbara next season. She leaves for college as the school record holder in the discus and three-time state championship qualifier. She was 12th at the state meet this season.

Incoming freshmen Ava Nkadi of El Dorado Hills ran in the St. Francis jersey for the first time. She was sixth in the 3200 meters in a talented field with a time of 11:36.56. She will compete for the Troubadour cross country team in the fall.
