SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis volleyball team defeated Davis 3-1 Tuesday night to improve to 1-1 in Delta League play and 10-5 overall.

“At times we played as a team and at times we played as individuals,” said Head Coach Alynn Wright. “When we played as a team, it looked really good.”

The Troubadours won the first set 25-21 but Davis responded by taking the second 25-20 tying the match at one game each.

“We were focusing on our own play,” said senior Ashley Sutter of the team’s mindset after two sets. “We wanted to do our best.”

St. Francis then posted a 25-21 win in the third and a 25-19 score in the fourth to close out the match.

“It was really fun and we were a lot more energetic than we have been in the past month,” said Sutter, who had 18 digs in the contest. “We were focused because we had a really good practice last night.”

Sutter said the team enjoys its home court.

“It makes a huge difference to play in front of all of our fans,” said Sutter. “We are a lot more comfortable here.”

The win snapped a short losing streak for the Troubies.

“They dug deep and figured out how to put it together,” said Wright. “We have so many things to work on, I wish we had more time.”
