SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Coming off the big win on Monday over Pleasant Grove, the Troubadour volleyball team wanted to keep the momentum going on Wednesday against Davis. They accomplished their goal with a 3-0 win to improve to 8-2 in Delta League play.

“After Monday’s game we had a lot of energy and we came out with a good win,” said Kenny. “Coming in (tonight) we knew how good Davis was so we did not get over confident and kept a positive attitude. We came into the game strong knowing we have to give it our all and fight the whole time.”

St. Francis posted a 25-14, 25-21, 25-10 win over their rival to keep their standing in third place overall with key road matches next week.

Freshman Alexa Edwards led the team again with 15 kills and 16 digs and senior Claire Schutz added 10 digs in the win. Senior Kelsey Grover had 35 assists while contributing 10 digs.

“We are playing as a team, finally,” said Grover. “We are working together and trusting each other more to go after balls.”

Junior Aubrey Kenny recorded a pair of aces while adding five digs. She recently returned to the court after missing the first half of the season with a wrist injury.

“It was a little nerve-wracking coming back and not having played in a while, but it has been good,” said Kenny. “Everyone has been really supportive.”

St. Francis has won six consecutive league games dating to a loss at Elk Grove on Sept 21.

“There has been a shift of momentum,” said Kenny. “These teams are really going to set us up for the rest of the season.”

St. Francis (21-12, 8-2) plays in the Stockton Invitational on Saturday before taking on Elk Grove and Sheldon next week.

“We have to continue to have energy and play every point one at a time,” said Grover of the team’s goals this weekend.
