SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis senior setter Ali Koumelis was named to the 2013 MaxPreps California All-State Volleyball team, the website announced.

“It is cool,” said Koumelis. “I was not expecting it. It is good to be included in a talented group of girls.”

Koumelis led St. Francis to the NorCal Division I title match, a runner-up finish in the Sac-Joaquin Section and the Delta River League title. The Troubadours went 34-9 on the season.

Koumelis, a four-year member of the varsity team, recorded 969 assists on the season with a 9.5 assist per set average. She signed to play volleyball at the University of Portland next fall. For her career, Koumelis had 1,997 assists and more than 700 digs. She guided St. Francis to a state runner-up finish in 2012, a pair of section titles and four Delta River League titles.
Granite Bay senior Taylor Nelson was named the Player of the Year.
