DAVIS, Calif. – St. Francis trailed 6-5 entering the fourth quarter but Davis scored six straight to record a 12-6 win Tuesday at the Schaal Aquatic Center.

“Down by one heading into the fourth was a great opportunity, I was really happy where we were,” said Head Coach Heather Moody. “We had a few mental lapses defensively and that gave them the opportunity.”

Senior Lauren Charter and Sally Ferguson each scored twice in the contest. Juniors Jenna Barthels and Julie Zanobini also scored for the Troubadours.

Davis jumped out to a 3-0 lead to start the game before St. Francis got on the board via a Charter goal.

“At the end of the first quarter, we talked about focusing on our team defense,” said Moody. “We wanted to have a solid attack defensively and that helps us have an organized attack offensively.”

St. Francis rallied to tie the game at 4. Bathels scored to cut the lead to 4-2 and Sally Ferguson found the cage with 3:03 left in the quarter. Charter tied the game at 4 before Davis finished the half with a 5-4 lead.

Each team managed a single goal in the third as the Blue Devils led 6-5 heading into the decisive quarter.

Junior Maggie Oysvrecorded a team-best three assists and four steals in the contest.

Davis claimed the Delta League title with the win but the teams will likely see each other in the section playoffs. Brackets will be announced on Friday.

St. Francis will play in the Nor Cal Championships this weekend on Friday and Saturday.
