Water Polo Standout Charter Named to All-America Team

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Former St. Francis water polo standout Lauren Charter ‘15 was named to the 2014-15 NISCA/Speedo Girls All-America Water Polo third team.

Charter scored a team-best 55 goals and 78 points to lead the Troubadours to the CIF Sac-Joaquin Division I finals for the third consecutive season in 2014. A three-time USA Water Polo Academic All-American, she earned all-section and All-Delta League first-team honors and finished her career with 109 career goals.

She received the St. Francis Booster Club Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and was one of 48 winners of the A. Dale Lacky/CSEA Scholarship awarded by the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section office. Charter was the top female student-athlete selected to represent the Delta League.

Charter played water polo and swam for all four years at St. Francis. In water polo, her teams were Section Division I runners-up three times. She is a member of CSF and has been a member of the General Excellence honor roll all four years. She was a core service leader at the Asian Community Center and a member of the St. Francis retreat team as well as a community basketball coach. Lauren had a 4.23 GPA and will attend UC Berkeley, where she will play water polo and major in biochemistry with the future goal of becoming a trauma or pediatric surgeon.

She will play for her club team next week in the USA Water Polo National Junior Olympics in Orange County, Calif. She helped the American River Water Polo club to a 14th-place finish at the US Club Championships earlier this month.
