A Sacramento high school robotics team is gearing up for the world championships

The award-winning team from St. Francis Catholic High School held their last practice at the Jesuit pool.

The 15 teammates engineered their underwater robot from the ground up, mastering electrical systems, coding, mechanics, and teamwork to earn first place at the Monterey Bay regional competition this past April.

The world championships are in Alpena, Michigan. This marks the fifth consecutive year they’ve qualified. They won the title in 2023 as the first all-female team in the world.

The award-winning St. Francis Catholic High School Robotics Team, “Geneseas,” is holding one of its last practices before heading to the World Championships in Alpena, Michigan (near Lake Huron). It’s a title they won in 2023 as the first all-female team in the world.

St. Francis Catholic High School to hold STEM Day event this weekend

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — St. Francis Catholic High School is holding a STEM Day event on Saturday.

The free event is aimed at students in fifth through eighth grades, though all are welcome. It takes place at 5900 Elvas Avenue from 10am to 2pm.

St. Francis senior Kin Tirumala, freshman Cynthia Klein and robotics coach Marcus Grindstaff joined KCRA 3 on Thursday to preview what to expect.
