Language Proficiency Testing Opportunity for Seniors (April 9, 8:30-Noon)

News

St. Francis and Jesuit are partnering to offer graduating seniors, who are either heritage/first-language speakers of a language other than English, a chance to test their proficiency using digital AAPPL exams to be administered on Saturday, April 9. Seniors who would like to test their proficiency in any of the following languages on that day may register to do so at the link below: Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. The full exam covers reading, writing, speaking, and listening. The exam is available to St. Francis and Jesuit Seniors for $25. Students who pass this proficiency exam at the level of Intermediate Mid (I-3) on all sections will be eligible for our new Seal of Biliteracy program (more information coming soon). The AAPPL exams are developed by ACTFL, the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages. You can read more about the AAPPL exams, including access to demo versions of the tests, at their website. Click HERE to register.

Students who register for an AAPPL exam will need to bring a fully charged laptop or tablet that can pass the AAPPL system check and appropriate headphones for the speaking and listening portions of the exam. More information will be provided the week prior to the exam to all those who have registered. Registration will close on Monday, April 4.
