First Athletics Hall of Fame Class to be Inducted in November
The 2018 class will include the 1993 CIF State Championship basketball team, golf coach Diane Aguer, five standout Troubadours and contributor Dotty Brandenburger.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis Catholic High School is proud to announce its inaugural Athletics Hall of Fame Class which will be inducted this fall, President Theresa Rodgers announced. The ceremony and dinner is scheduled for Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 6 p.m. in the St. Francis Gymnasium.

“On behalf of the entire St. Francis community, we are very excited about the establishment of the new St. Francis Athletics Hall of Fame and the induction of our first class this Fall,” said Rodgers.

TroubieTV’s Peyton Spellacy ’20 Earns Newroom by the Bay Honor

PALO ALTO, Calif. – TroubieTV’s Peyton Spellacy was named the Newsroom by the Bay Year2 Shark Award Winner after attending the program this summer.

Newsroom by the Bay at Stanford University is an intense journalism and media program headed by some of the top journalism educators in the country. The program offers Year-1 and Year-2 curriculum. Students are immersed in real-world journalism with off campus outings. While attending classroom and guest speaker forums, you are also working on your own individual media package, published for the final showcase presentation.


Athletics Department Celebrates Spring Signing Day

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Nine St. Francis Catholic High School seniors representing seven different sports made commitments or signed National Letters-of-Intent to play sports in college next fall at a ceremony at the school today.

“It was what I have been waiting for,” said senior Logan Kelly from Rio Linda, who signed with Lewis & Clark College. “It was exciting and I was so glad to get to sign with all the girls from my class. It was a really neat ceremony and I am so grateful for everyone who was a part of it.”


2017 Tennis Highlights

  • St. Francis went 19-1 overall on the season and 12-0 in the Delta League to win the league title, capturing the title for the 28th time in school history and third consecutive.
  • The St. Francis tennis team lost 5-2 in the semifinals of the CIF/USTA Northern California Regional Championships Friday to eventual champion Los Gatos. It was the second consecutive CIF NorCal appearance for the program.’

Tennis’ Kristi Spector Named Delta League Coach of the Year

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis Tennis Coach Kristi Spector has been named the Delta League Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season.

“I am humbled because it is voted on by the other coaches,” said Spector. “It is not who is undefeated or first in your league to be named coach of the year. I appreciate the fact that the others coaches felt that I am connected with my team in a way that they decided to vote me coach of the year.”


Tennis Advances in Section Playoffs, Hosts Davis Next Week

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis tennis team, the top seed in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I bracket, advanced with an 8-1 win over McClatchy Wednesday at Rio del Oro Racquet Club.

“I am really proud of the way the girls played, especially being in the middle of Homecoming week,” said Head Coach Kristi Spector. “I wanted them to play their game and not get caught up in another person’s game.”


Six Troubadours Named to the All-Delta League Tennis Team

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Six St. Francis players were named to the All-Delta League tennis team based on play at the Delta League Singles and Doubles Championships.

The six honorees include junior Myra Anwar and Adithi Benush in singles and the doubles teams of seniors Kiya and Kyla Jackson and senior Cameron Parra and Izzy Asker.


Adithi Benush and Myra Anwar to Play for Tennis Section Berth

ELK GROVE, Calif. – Junior Myra Anwar and sophomore Adithi Benush advanced to the third-place consolation match at the Delta League Singles Championships Monday at Laguna Creek Racquet Club. They will play on Wednesday for the berth in the Sac-Joaquin Section tournament.

Benush opened with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Danielle Beningfield of Elk Grove and advanced to the semifinals with a 6-0, 7-5 win over Nancy Avoce of Davis. She lost to top-seed Jacquie Tan of Franklin 6-0, 6-1.


Tennis Clinches Delta League Title, Undefeated Season

Troubies Clinch Delta League for Third Consecutive Season

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis tennis seniors were recognized prior to the match and helped clinch with a 9-0 win to wrap up the regular season undefeated with a third straight Delta League title.

“It feels great because we did it as a team,” said Head Coach Kristi Spector. “Everybody contributed all the way down the ladder – all 18 girls. Overall, we lost five individual matches the entire season.”

ELK GROVE, Calif. – The St. Francis tennis team moved one match closer to a perfect regular season with an 8-1 win over Franklin on Tuesday at Laguna Creek Racquet Club.

St. Francis improved to 14-0 and 11-0 in the Delta League by winning five of six singles matches and sweeping the doubles. Adithi Benush won the only three-set match of the day, defeating Franklin’s Jaylynn Tan 6-4, 4-6, 1-0, while the Troubadours got straight set wins by Alisha Anwar, Kyla Jackson, Marisa Fat and Kiya Jackson.


Tennis Senior Marisa Fat Named Wendy’s High School Heisman School Winner

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Tennis senior Marisa Fat has been named a School Winner in the Wendy’s High School Heisman Award. Fat has helped the St. Francis tennis team to a 14-0 record this season and the Delta League team title. She has posted a 7-1 single record this season at Nos. 2, 3 and 5 singles positions. She is also the Student Body Vice President.


Tennis Posts Shutout against Sheldon

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Freshman Alex Evans won her singles match at No. 6 singles without dropping a single game 6-0, 6-0 as St. Francis defeated Sheldon 9-0 on Thursday.

“It feels good to contribute,” said Evans. “When I came in I was expecting something a lot different. All the girls really want to be here and really put a lot of effort into the team. It makes me want to try harder.”


Tennis Remains Undefeated; Wins at Davis

DAVIS, Calif. – The St. Francis tennis team remained undefeated after an 8-1 victory on the road at Davis Thursday afternoon. The Troubadours won five of six singles matches and swept the doubles to clinch the win.


Jacksons Win USTA Team Tennis National Title

ORLANDO, Fla. – St. Francis seniors Kiya and Kyla Jackson won the USTA Junior Team Tennis national championships in the 18U Intermediate division with their team based at Laguna Creek Racquet Club. The three-day tournament was contested at the USTA National Campus in Orlando.

The team advanced to the finals by defeating the Tennis ADDicts (Mid-Atlantic) 55-44 in the semifinals with the Jacksons providing a doubles win 6-5, 6-4. They won the title with a 49-36 win over Berry Creek out of Texas 49-36 with the Jackson providing a three set win in doubles 5-6, 6-0, 1-0.


Jackson Sisters are Twinning for St. Francis Tennis

Duo Heads to Orlando This Weekend with Team NorCal


SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis senior tennis standouts Kiya and Kyla Jackson will travel to Orlando this weekend for the USTA Junior Team Coed Nationals with their team based at Laguna Creek Racquet Club.

“We worked so hard this summer,” said Kyla Jackson. “We are hoping to play against really good people, have fun and represent NorCal.”
