Christian Service Hours

News

Christian Service hours must be completed in partnership with pre-approved, non-profit agencies. Hours may be completed in person, remotely, or a combination of both.

The 2021-2022 minimum requirements are listed below.

  • Grade 9: 10 hours of service
  • Grade 10: 15 hours of service
  • Grade 11: 20 hours of service
  • Grade 12: 30 hours of service

The service period for this school year is June 1, 2021 to March 4, 2022. All service hours must be logged and verified in MobileServe. Hours done in excess of an annual requirement do not “roll forward” to the following year.

Students must meet their service requirements to remain in “good standing.” Failure to complete it on time can result in activities probation. Meaning students may not be eligible to participate in extracurricular activities, including athletics, arts productions, and other co-curricular events (Spring Fling, Junior Prom, Senior Ball, Senior Sunset, Graduation Ceremony, etc.).

On March 8, 2022, students who did not meet the minimum service requirement received a Service Contract in homeroom.  This form is a written plan letting Campus Ministry know how a student will complete delinquent hours. To be accepted, the contract must include service details and verification (email or signature) that the organization can accommodate a student’s desired schedule. Each service site requires a separate contract. Turn them into Ms. Villanueva in the CLC. If a student receives a service contract but is confident they’ve met the requirements, Ms. Villanueva can help them determine where the error occurred.

To avoid probation and continue participating in activities, delinquent hours or a valid contract must have been submitted by March 16, 2022. If this deadline was missed, a student is ineligible to participate until the proper documentation is received and processed. All delinquent hours must be served, logged, and verified before April 25, 2022. Students who don’t meet the extended deadline may not continue participating in SFHS activities. If a student does not meet the minimum requirements by the end of the Second Semester (May 18, 2022), she will receive an INC on her transcript. Additionally, students with an INC will forfeit their upcoming leadership positions and be ineligible for athletics next year.

Contact Ms. Villanueva for service questions. If a service opportunity seems to meet the SFHS service requirement but is not officially listed, please submit a Special Permission Request Form. Students can find service opportunities using the “Discover” feature in MobileServe. See the Campus Ministry/Christian Service folder of the class mascot page in Schoology for additional resources.
