We’ve been talking a lot about our Racial Reconciliation
Plan recently. It is an action plan, with a
focus on diversity, inclusion, equity, and reconciliation at St.
Francis. We are still in phase one, which includes its design and
implementation. It is a living document, and we will continue to
reassess and realign the plan as we move forward. Change takes

I can’t help but reflect on where we were one year ago:
March 13, 2020 — a date we’ll not soon forget. Our entire faculty
and staff gathered to begin planning as the World Health
Organization had declared the coronavirus outbreak a pandemic
just days prior. Little did we know we’d find ourselves
immediately sheltering in place. While some of us believed it
would only last a few weeks until we flattened the curve, the
reality as we now know, proved much different.

Francis High School’s Dean of Students,

conversation about bringing our daughters back to school
four days a week. The school is working to bring back
as many students as possible under the restrictions we are still
facing as a community.

On Friday, March 4, the California Department of Public Health
(CDPH) published updated Youth and Adult Recreational Sports
Guidance. In this updated guidance, the CDPH has added
requirements that went into effect on March 5.
The deadline for juniors (only) to register for the Wednesday,
March 24th SAT on campus (Flex Day) is Friday, March 12.
Registration information was emailed to students and parents on
Friday, February 12. Due to safety guidelines, seating is
limited. In order to participate, ALL students must have a
negative COVID test result from Wednesday, 3/17 (Gold Cohort) or
Sunday, 3/21 (Red Cohort and Distance Learning). Like the
regular school day, all students will complete the symptom
checker using StopIt Safe Screen and must show a green badge upon
entry to campus.
All students will continue to be screened on a weekly basis in
their assigned cohorts. Any changes made to the cohorts to
bring students back to campus 4-days per week will occur when we
can move to a lower tier. Additional information will be shared
with parents/students when that is possible.
While we await clearance from Sacramento County Department of
Public Health (SCDPH) to fully reopen the campus, we will be
working to bring back as many students as we can under the
restrictions we are still facing. We will make every effort to
return as many students to campus as physically
possible; however, we are still required to keep to the 6
ft. distancing, which greatly impacts the amount of
students who can physically return to campus.
As we turn our attention to the final months of the school year,
we have good news to share about our plans for Baccalaureate and
Graduation for the Class of 2021. Our goal has always been to
provide a program that celebrates our seniors and their families
with events that truly honor their accomplishments and their
journey while keeping safety a priority.
