Athletic News – 3/05/21

On March 4, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) updated it’s Youth Sports Guidance based on a settlement agreement reached in a litigation matter pending in San Diego County.  St. Francis, under the guidance of the Diocese of Sacramento, and in conjunction with Sacramento County Public Health, the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF), the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section, and the Delta League, will be reviewing all details of the newly released guidelines.  Please stay tuned for further updates.  We thank you for your patience and understanding.

Please remember, to be eligible for any sport participation at St. Francis High School, you must complete your registration on FinalForms, have a current physical on file with the Athletic Department, perform a COVID test weekly, and complete your daily symptom screener. You can be a distance learner, and participate in sports if you follow the above guidelines. If you have any questions regarding sport registration, please contact Assistant AD, Kelly Ketcham at

Revelry Auction Postponed

To prioritize reconciliation and healing within the St. Francis community, we have made the decision to postpone the Revelry Auction until after Easter break. Like before, the Auction itself will open a week prior to that day and close at 9:00 p.m. on that evening.

We look forward to an opportunity for our community to gather in support of our Troubies. In the meantime, we pray for reconciliation and healing within our community.

Lent 2021

Lent is the forty-day liturgical season of fasting, special prayer, and almsgiving, in preparation for Easter. We invite you to visit our YouTube channel to watch and pray alongside our Troubies.

On Mondays and Thursdays, the Christian Service Leaders offer reflections based on Jesus’ Seven Last Words. On Tuesdays and Fridays, students from the Ministry Leadership class share the daily Gospel acclamation and their reflections.

Letter from the Principal 2-23-21

Dear St. Francis Families,

I am writing to you this evening to provide an update on today’s events and what we’re anticipating the rest of the week.

But first, I want to acknowledge how incredibly upsetting this is for everyone.  The wellness of our families is important and can be difficult to achieve, especially in a time when we’ve had to isolate ourselves.  I am including a Wellness Resource that shares strategies to deal with racial stress and how to practice self-care.  It is my prayer that you find it helpful.

Athletic News – 2/19/21

On Monday, we will begin optional pre-season workouts.  As we are in the “Limited Period” of the basketball calendar for our league, we are restricted by how many hours we are permitted to practice per day and per week.  We will have counter-COVID measures in place as well.  Here are some key points of information, as we begin our pre-season workouts:

Important 2021-2022 School Year Dates

  • First Day of Instruction, August 11, 2021
  • Thanksgiving Break – November 24-26, 2021
  • Christmas Break – December 17 – Jan. 2, 2022
  • Easter Break – April 11- 22, 2022
  • End of Semester 2 – May 18, 2022
  • Graduation – May 19, 2022

IMPORTANT: On-Campus Classes Survey

At this time we are awaiting additional guidance from the Sacramento County Public Health (SCPH) Department on what reopening comprehensive high schools will look like.  However, we are currently in the most restrictive Purple Tier and will have to follow the prescribed guidelines. An additional factor we’ve identified over the past month is that we have students who are designated to be in the Red or Gold Cohorts who are not attending school.  This is impacting our ability to open those cohorts to other students that would like to be on campus.

Announcement Regarding Participation In Sports

After reviewing the press release of 2/10/21 from CIF and our county public health guidelines, we recommend that our students choose to participate in just one sport program (SFHS or outside club) at a time; however, it is no longer mandated.

Keep up with the SF Arts News on Facebook and Instagram SFHS Arts. We feature students, artwork, upcoming events. and more. Check it out!

The Odyssey…sort of written and performed by the SF Players Ensemble will be available through Showtix4u soon and will air at the end of February. This is the one act that our girls took to the regional Lenaea Theatre Festival this year. Stay tuned!

Camp Troubie is back!

We are excited to host a modified, in-person, camp this summer for rising 5th to 8th grade girls. Spend the morning with St. Francis teachers and camp counselors in a safe and fun environment. Each camp day features academic content, movement (including dance or yoga), outdoor time, and snacks.

Registration opened on February 25.

Service Dog on Campus

Per our insurance carrier, this is a parental notice that a service dog in training has been approved to be on campus with one of our students. The service animal is not a pet and should not be touched or petted without the approval of its handler. Any concerns, please notify the Dean of Students or Principal directly.

2021 Virtual California Girls State Competition

The American Legion is looking for a current SFHS junior to participate in their 2021 Virtual California Girls State competition this June/July.  Girls State is a program that teaches students about government, while developing leadership skills and civic awareness. During the one-week virtual program, students will run for office, develop public speaking skills, and participate in all aspects of developing a working government system.
