Water Polo Posts 21-0 Shutout over Franklin

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Juniors Kira Chavez and Sam Reinl each scored three goals among 12 players overall who scored in a 21-0 victory over Franklin Wednesday at the Jesuit pool.

“I think we played well as a team and we had a really good counter attack offense,” said Chavez. “We executed pretty well.”

St. Francis (5-2) scored 11 times in the opening period and four times in the second to build a 15-0 halftime lead. The Troubadours added three goals in each of the final two periods and held Franklin scoreless to post the shutout.

“It always great when you can get everyone in the water,” said Head Coach Heather Moody. “Especially some of our newer players, it was nice to get them game experience.”

Sophomore Frances Barbour, junior Madelyn Lavezzo, junior Maggie Oys and junior Julie Zanobini each added two goals. Senior Annie Rafeld, junior Jennalyn Barthels, senior Bella Smith, junior Caroline Urkov and junior Caroline Urkov added goals in the win.

St. Francis travels to Napa on Thursday for JV and varsity games against Vintage. The junior varsity game starts at 3:30 p.m. followed by the varsity game at 4:30 p.m.
