Senior Director of Content Strategy, Abilene Christian University

Marketing, Advertising & PR

Troubie Bea dreamed of working as a physician assistant (PA) focused on patient advocacy for minority populations. I wanted to change lives, God had other plans for how I would eventually do just that. After college graduation, I worked as a medical assistant to earn my PA hours and quickly realized medicine wasn’t the route for me. Spending years pursuing a career that ultimately wasn’t the right fit led to a career crisis, but also forced me to re-evaluate: I wanted to pursue what excites me. After lots of interviewing those who were passionate about their career, feeling frustrated that I was restarting my own, and spending time in self-reflection while fighting imposter syndrome, I found my love for organic marketing and creative strategy. The time I have spent in marketing agencies and my alma mater, PLNU, ultimately set me up for my dream job – Senior Director of Content Strategy for Abilene Christian University (ACU). Today, I’m still following my lifelong dream, just not in the way I’d originally planned. I get to make a difference in students’ lives as an advocate for minorities in education, promote incredible educational and athletic opportunities, and more! All of which leave an impression that I’m proud of. In my role, I partner with my marketing team and the wider ACU campus and community to ideate and implement a university-wide content strategy that tells our story while speaking to the hearts and minds of our current students, prospective students, and alumni.
