First, congratulations must go out to distance runners, Tatiana Cornejo and Cate Joaquin, who set school records while representing St. Francis at the Arcadia Invitational last weekend. Junior, Maddie Pelfrey, also qualified for the pole vault in the esteemed meet that featured competitors from 29 different states, and we are certainly proud of the way our student-athletes represented us on that stage. Head to GoTroubies.com for more details on their accomplishments at this meet.

As we head into the post-Easter portion of our spring break, our spring teams hit the home stretch of their season. Softball has another key home game on Tuesday, this time against Elk Grove, before splitting up: the varsity travels to the Tracy NorCal Classic, while the JV squad stays at home for a game against Rosemont on their varsity sisters’ Schuster Field. Track & field will also take part in its last home event, the Delta League center meet at Jesuit on Wednesday. This is a lead-up to the Sacramento Meet of Champions on April 23, the entries for which will be announced this weekend. Lacrosse winds down the Delta League schedule with games at Roseville (Tuesday), Bella Vista (Wednesday), and Rio Americano (Friday).

Just a reminder to our Troubie parents, the SF Booster Club has two more Booster-Q events left in the school year: April 23 at the St. Francis/Jesuit Invitational diving meet, and May 10 for softball’s Senior Day against Pleasant Grove. Sign-ups are available on the MVP system. This is an enjoyable way to pick up some parent service hours, as is the snack shack at softball home games.

One item of note is the spring National Letter of Intent/College Commitment ceremony on Tuesday, April 26. This will take place at 8:00 a.m. that morning in the main gym, and athlete honorees will be excused from E block. To any graduating seniors who will play for a collegiate sports team: if you were not already honored during the November event, and if you have not already responded to the email request, please contact Assistant Athletics Director, Mark Honbo, if you wish to be part of that  celebration.

And once again, be sure to stay tuned to GoTroubies.com for ongoing updates, results, and news from the SFHS athletics program.
