Divers Finish Second and Sixth at Jesuit Invite

RIO LINDA, Calif.  – Junior Molly Wilson finished second at the Jesuit Invitational with a career-best 441.90 on her 11-dive list.

“I think I did ok,” said Wilson. “I could have done better on a couple of my dives but I am happy with my overall performance. Hopefully I can hit every dive at sections.”

Junior Camille Lutes finished sixth overall with a score of 159.85.

“I felt great and very natural,” said Lutes. “I think I did really well. I surprised myself especially with my twisters and my one-and-a-half. It was a lot of dives I had not competed this year.”

Head coach Dede Crayne was happy with her performance.

“Cami was so consistent,” said Crayne. “If I had to pick a performer of the whole meet, I would pick her. She was consistent and really on.”

Wilson, who qualified for the CIF state meet last season, scored a personal –best 53 points on her back flip two and half twist, helping her top performance.

“I was very pleased with some of Molly’s dives that I wasn’t expecting,” said Crayne. “There were a few she knows she can do better.”

St. Francis will compete at the DeLaSalle Invitational on Monday before prepping for the Delta League Championships.

“This got me excited for the rest of the season and next year as well,” said Lutes.

Nine JV girls competed earlier in the day with Maddy Miles recording the best finish in fifth place.

“Our JV girls did great,” said Crayne. “For a lot of them, it was their first 11-dive meet. They got through 11 after learning them in 20 practices. I am so pleased with the team in general.”

League championships are April 26 at Rio Americano.

“For the rest of the season, I hope to do well at leagues and make it to states out of sections.”
