LODI, Calif. – The St. Francis varsity lacrosse team was named the Sac-Joaquin Section Academic Team Champion for the 2018 spring campaign.

“We are a well-rounded group of people,” said Head Coach Julia Southard about her team. “The best athletes are good at other things and this show these girls are working hard in the classroom. I am really proud of this achievement.”

The Troubadours posted a combined 3.389 grade point average to edge Oak Ridge (3.354) for the sport title. St. Francis lost to Oak Ridge in the SVL playoffs and North Coast Section playoffs.

The Academic Team Champion is new for the 2017-18 school year and the Sac-Joaquin Section is awarding academic team championships for each season. The spring includes badminton, lacrosse, softball, sport cheer and track and field.

The St. Francis track and field team ranked second overall, trailing only Foresthill (3.813) with a 3.481 cumulative GPA. In the fall the Troubadour cross country team ranked fifth with a 3.61 GPA.
