Volleyball Falls in Mitty Invitational Final

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The St. Francis volleyball team lost in the championship match to Archbishop Mitty 2-1 Saturday afternoon at the Mitty Invitational, reaching the final with three straight-set wins earlier in the day.

“The kids played pretty consistent throughout the day,” said Head Coach Alynn Wright. “We had good play and a lot of moments by everyone.  I think we will see Mitty again in the Presentation Tournament and we learned some things today.”

The Troubadours opened with Campolindo with a 25-12, 25-15 win before beating Brandon 25-23, 25-20. After a break, they returned to face Santa Barbara, posting a 25-19, 25-21 win.

Without a break, St. Francis took on host Mitty. After dropping the first set 25-19, St. Francis won the second 25-22. The Troubadours were unable to close the match, losing the third set 25-11.

St. Francis (12-2) hosts a pair of matches this week at home starting with Nevada Union on Tuesday. All three squads play on Tuesday starting at 4 p.m.
