2015 Cross Country Highlights

News
  • St. Francis finished eighth at the CIF State Championships, recording a Top-10 finish for the fifth consecutive season. Sophomore Sydney Vandegrift led the team, crossing the line 17th overall in 18:14.7. Seniors Ariane Arndt and Chase Worthen were 27th and 28th respectively in a near dead heat at 18:25. All three runners had personal-bests over the 3.1-mile course.
  • St. Francis was second overall at the Sac-Joaquin Section and Delta League meets to Davis. The Frosh/Soph team also finished second at the league meet behind the top 10 finishes by Erica Cradeur and Teresa Lee.
  • The Frosh/Soph team won the section with by placing four runners in the top 10 and cruising to a 33-point effort that won the meet by 39 points over their closest competitor. Erica Cradeur was the top finisher in second in 14:14 followed by Teresa Lee in third in 14:17. Margaret Casale finished fifth (14:26) and Samantha Tran was seventh (14:32). All four had personal-bests in the meet,
  • The JV team finished fifth overall at sections behind senior Jessica Danen’s second-place finish in 21:02.
  • St. Francis won the Girls Sophomore race at Mt. Sac Invitational. St. Francis finished tied for first in the team standings with Davis but lost the tiebreaker by virtue of their sixth finisher.
  • Vandegrift was the top finisher for the team in nine races. She had five Top 5 finishers and won The Other Meet. She was third overall at the section meet, fourth at the Delta League meet and 17th at the state meet. She earned All-Delta League honors. She ran the second-fastest 5K time in school history. She won the Sophomore Girls Sweeps race in 18:55 at Mt. Sac, clearing the field by more than one and half minutes.
  • Worthen led the team with eight personal-bests during the season and recorded the 11th-best 5K in St. Francis history.
  • Senior Ariane Arndt signed to run at California-Berkeley in the fall. She had six personal-bests during the season and ran the eighth-fast 5K in school history.
  • Sophie DeBenedetti earned All-League honors as a freshman and recorded the seventh-fastest 5K tome by a freshman in school history.
  • Senior Jessica Danens recorded a PR at every distance, capping her season with a 17-second lifetime PR at the section meet.
  • Other top performances included Allie Lourim getting a PR at every distance and running a best lifetime 5K at Willow Hills. Alana Reyna ran a PR in the 55, while Gabrielle Dyer had a PR at every distance and recorded a lifetime PR in the 5K at Granite Regional. Sophie Huang had a lifetime PR by 1:15 and Raegan had a PR in several distances. Isabella Garcia also had a PR in the 3 mile race,
  • The team posted a combined 73 personal bests over the course of the season.
