Albie Swingin’ for Life Softball Tournament Postponed

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Albie Swingin’ for Life softball tournament scheduled for Saturday, March 29 at St. Francis High School has been postponed due to the anticipated weather this weekend. The games will be re-scheduled at a later date.

The six schools participating in the breast cancer benefit sponsored by the Albie Aware Breast Cancer Foundation include Davis Senior, Christian Brothers, Pioneer, River City and host St. Francis.

The Albie Aware Breast Cancer Foundation was created in 2002 in the memory of Albie Ciucci Carson, St. Francis Class of ‘65, who lost her battle with breast cancer. Despite Albie’s vigilance and post treatment follow-ups, she was not referred for additional, available screening modalities that would have shown that her cancer had spread. Albie’s husband, Doug Carson, created this foundation to help save the lives of other women and men by assisting with education and testing: things he felt were missing from Albie’s treatments.
