SHINGLE SPRINGS, Calif. – Susie Rogers recorded a double-double as St. Francis held on late to post a 45-43 victory over Ponderosa Tuesday night in Delta Rover League action.

“Anytime you go into somebody’s house, they are going to be hungry,” said Pitton. “They were ready from the opening tip. We played a roller-coaster game. We played great at times while others we looked completely out of sync.”

The Troubadours led throughout the last three quarters but the Bruins made a late push to steal the game at home. Ponderosa cut the St. Francis lead to 45-43 with 6.3 seconds left and then forced a turnover to create a chance to win or tie the game. But the Troubadours escaped with the win when the last second attempt was off the mark.

“Any win is good as ugly as it was especially at the end,” said Pitton. “Hopefully we can work on some things and clean some things up against Sheldon.”

Rogers had 12 points and 12 rebounds in the game, preserving the lead with a three-pointer after the Bruins closed the gap to just one point at 34-33 early in the fourth quarter. Ponderosa would never get any closer. She also hit back-to-back triples in the second quarter that gave the Troubadours the lead at 22-21.

“It was a really important game for getting into the playoffs and everything,” said Rogers. “We did not play our best. But we came through at the end.”

Sophomore Kyra Huffman grabbed a team-best 18 rebounds, while classmate Lauren Craig recorded 12 in the contest.

The Troubadours were hurt by a 7-for-18 performance at the line, failing to put the game away with just a 2-for-8 line in the fourth quarter.

Huffman scored seven points and senior Amanda Davenport notched six on two three-pointers.

In other action Tuesday, the St. Francis JV team cruised to a 57-18 victory over Ponderosa. Yvonna Molodanof scored a game-high 20 points, out-scoring the Bruins by herself. Ponderosa scored just six points over the final three quarters. Julia Razo added 11 points in the win. The freshmen opened the night with a 40-34 win over the Bruins.

St. Francis (14-8, 4-2 DRL) hosts Sheldon Friday night at 7 p.m. The freshmen start at 4 p.m., while the JV team will play at 5:30 p.m.
