Basketball Teams Play for Three Titles Saturday

LODI, Calif. – Three players scored in double figures as the St. Francis basketball team rolled to a 68-29 victory over host Lodi Friday afternoon to advance to the championship of the Lodi Christmas Tournament.

Sophomore Lauren Craig scored a team-best 15 points to lead the Troubadours in scoring. Angie Ortiz added 13 and Susie Rogers scored nine in the win.
St. Francis (4-3) jumped out to an 18-8 lead and led by 24 at the break. Craig scored 11 of her 15 points in the first half while Rogers notched 11 to help build the big lead.

The team plays for the title at 3:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Julia Razo scored 18 points and Janae Fairbrook added 12 points as the St. Francis JC team posted a 70-36 victory over Kennedy Friday night to advance to the championship game.

After a tight first quarter, St. Francis held a slight 15-13 lead but out-scored host Kennedy 25-3 in the second to take control of the game. Razo scored eight points in the second quarter to lead the effort.

St. Francis (5-2) plays Saturday at 2:30 p.m. against the winner of Vanden and Del Oro at Kennedy in the championship game.

FAIR OAKS, Calif. – Savannah Tijerino-Santos scored nine points including seven in the fourth quarter to lead the St. Francis freshmen team to a 39-33 victory over Roseville.

The Troubadours (5-1) jumped out to a 14-6 lead in the first quarter behind two three-pointers by Ally Jeffers. Roseville made a push in the fourth aided by a 6-for-21 effort at the line by the Troubies. But Tijerino-Santos scored seven of her 11 points in the final period to help the team advance to their second consecutive tournament final. The St. Francis will play in the championship of the Bronco Bill Tournament on Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
