JV Basketball Posts 62-14 Victory at Elk Grove

ELK GROVE, Calif. – Avery Myers and Marlee Nicolos combined for 16 second quarter points as St. Francis posted a big 62-14 victory over Elk Grove Tuesday night.

“We are really jelling together as a team,” said Myers. “In the Christian Brothers game, we found out what we need to do to succeed. It shot up our confidence.”

The Troubadours scored 26 points in the quarter to break open the game, while holding the Thundering Herd to just six points to take a 41-10 lead into the break.

“We started out the game with energy and worked together as a team,” said freshmen Logan Kelly, who scored two baskets in each half. “We keep each other motivated and support each other.”

Sophomore Luna Mauldin added nine points in the game, including seven in the second half. Kelly scored eight points and Reina Deol and Mary Baccay each contributed seven in the contest.

The Troubadours held Elk Grove to four second half points.

Overall, 10 Troubadours scored in the game.

St. Francis (8-5) returns to the court on Friday for a league game against Sheldon.
