SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis lacrosse team opened Sacramento Valley Lacrosse League play with a 19-5 win over Bella Vista Tuesday night.

Sophomore Sarah Westover scored five times and senior Ryleigh Bone added four goals. Freshman Juliette Vielhauer scored three times and senior Hayley Kusserow and junior Maggie Anderson added a pair each.

Westover led the early charge with four goals over the first eight minutes as St. Francis built a 6-2 lead. Bone scored three consecutive goals and Vielhauer and Kusserow (two) each found the net as the Troubies led 15-5 at the break.

“It was a good game to start league (play) on and build some confidence,” said Merwin. “We know what we need to work on and what we are good at to build it up on Wednesday at practice.”

The Troubadours (4-4) host Oak Ridge on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The game will be shown online on TroubieTV and will be available on demand Thursday night.
