SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senior Miranda Myers clocked 18:28 in hot temperatures Wednesday afternoon to win the first Delta League meet of the season, leading the Troubadours to a victory over Davis.

“It feels good,” said Myers. “It was hard to go out there by myself. I did not really know what that was like, not having any competition. It was good to lead and take it step by step.”

Myers was one of three Troubadours in the top four and six among the top nine in the race. It was the second career victory for Myers in her varsity career. She finished six seconds in front of Davis’ Fiona O’Keefe (18:34).

St. Francis had not run in two and half weeks dating back to Sept. 20 after their trip to Chicago for the Palatine Invitational was canceled.

“It felt good to get back into the mix of facing,” said senior Peyton Bilo, who was third overall in 18:56. “I am glad our team is back in the swing of things and we get to consistently race every week. It should be fun to see how we improve and how our training helps us race.”

Bilo was followed by freshman Ava Nkadi who crossed fourth in 19:14 over the 5K distance.

Junior Ariane Arndt was seventh overall in 19:35 in a pack with teammates Sydney Vandegrist (8th, 19:40) and junior Chase Worthen (9th, 19:45).

St. Francis returns to the same course on Saturday for the Bronco Invitational at Granite Regional Park. Race times are 9 a.m. for the freshman race, followed by the varsity at 10 a.m. and JV at 11 a.m.
