Pleasant Grove Snaps League Unbeaten Streak

News

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Pleasant Grove upset nationally-ranked No. 19 St. Francis Wednesday 2-1 in a Delta River League matchup.

Amanda Nelms put Pleasant Grove up 2-0 in the second half and the Eagles withstood a comeback effort by the Troubadours that included a game-tying goal that was waived off by the officials. Junior Anna Gregg scored her 19th goal of the season to pull within one and Lydia Molitor tied the game. But the goal was waived off to the disappointment of the SF bench and fans.

St. Francis continued its strong push late but was unable to find the goal again. The loss was just the second of the season and marked the first in league play over the last two seasons, a 14-game league unbeaten stretch by the Troubadours.

St. Francis returns to action for the third game in three days Thursday at Ponderosa. The Troubadours enter the game with a 14-2-4 overall record and 3-1-1 mark in the DRL.

Pleasant Grove improved to 5-1-2 and 2-0-2 in league play.
