Rivalry Renewed
St. Francis and Granite Bay Meet Again

News

Granite Bay and St. Francis meet again with a lot on the line. Granite Bay, the defending state and section champion, eliminated the Troubadours last season in both the Nor Cal and Section Championships.

“It seems to be the match we all look forward to and prepare for every day at practice,” said Head Coach Alynn Wright. “Both teams are talented and Granite Bay is well coached. We know we have to bring our best every time we play them.”

St. Francis and Granite Bay will be meeting for the third time. The two schools played at St. Francis with the Troubadours winning a 3-2 battle. They met again at the Mitty Invitational with St. Francis taking a 2-1 victory.
“The kids are pumped up and excited,” said Wright. “This is what they have been working for.”

The two schools will be meeting in the section playoffs for the fourth consecutive season and it is the earliest they have meet during that span. They met in the finals in each of the last two seasons and semifinals in 2011.

St. Francis (29-11) will be looking for its 30th win on the season, while Granite Bay enters with a 25-12 mark.
