SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sophomore Jada Kanemasu pitched three scoreless inning to lead the Troubadours to a 16-1 victory over Rio Linda Tuesday at Schuster Field on the St. Francis campus.

“It felt really good,” said Kanemasu, who allowed two hits and had two strikeouts over three innings. “I was not really nervous today because I had the girls behind me. It was pretty easy going.”

St. Francis (2-1) scored five runs over the first two innings and added nine in the third to break it open before closing the game out via the 10-run rule after five innings. All nine starters had at least one hit and five players had two or more hits. Sophomore Rhyann O’Mara led the team with four hits and three runs scored.

“Whenever we get runs especially right off the bat, it helps you feel really confident on the mound,” said Kanemasu.

Hannah Willover, Mel Baccay and Mary Baccay each knocked in three runs as the Troubies pounded out 16 hits, including five doubles and three triples.

“We are feeling really good,” said Kanemasu. “We have been hitting really well and our chemistry has been great.  The coaches have recognized it and told us too.”

St. Francis plays in the Victory Tournament this weekend in Elk Grove starting Thursday night.
