SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senior third baseman Alexis Viramontes has committed to play softball at Cal-State Dominguez Hills next year.

“I chose Dominguez Hills for their small classes,” said Viramontes. “I like to be in a small environment. It helps you develop a better relationship with your teachers and I do well in small environments.”

Viramontes will play for a new staff that took over last September for the Toros.

“I love the softball coaches – Coach Aggabao and Coach Garcia,” said Viramontes. “Coach A is new to the program and I am her first recruit. We have that great bond. They make it a fun atmosphere.”

Viramontes is hitting .400 this season over the first eight games with 10 runs scored and 13 RBI. She hit .359 as a junior with 15 RBI.

The Toros are a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) competing at the Division II level, bringing excitement and tradition to the campus through 10 different sports (4 Men’s, 6 Women’s). CSUDH is one of 12 universities that compete in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), the most prominent Division II conference in the nation with 152 NCAA National Championships.

Viramontes is the 27th Troubadour to have made a commitment or to have signed during the previous National Letter of Intent signing periods to continue their athletic careers next year at the collegiate level.

The third and final NLI Signing date is April 16. St. Francis will hold a celebration to recognize all the spring collegiate signees on April 30.
