CARMICHAEL, Calif. – Katie McIntee won the 100-yard and 200-yard freestyle and contributed on two winning relays as the St. Francis swimming team posted a 116-39 victory over Pleasant Grove in the first Delta League meet of the season.

“We were getting our squad that we will be competing with and see how they swim together,” said Head Coach Richard Levin.

McIntee opened with a win in the 200 free in 2:00.88 and came back to win the 100 free in 55.76. She also was part of the 200- and 400-free relay teams that finished first.

Overall, St. Francis had seven varsity individual winners and took first in all three relays. Levin highlighted Taylor Koewler’s win in the 200 IM in 2:21.07 as one of the best swims of the meet.

“The biggest highlight starting off was in the 200 IM with Taylor Koewler with a come-from-behind win,” said Levin. “She is a sophomore and really coming into her own as a swimmer. She fought hard and had a great swim.”

Tatum Ropeke (100 Fly, 1:03.75), Chloe Mitchell (500 Free, 5:14.80; 100 Back, 1:03.20) and Erin Crooks (100 Breast, 1:16.18) also won events. Mitchell and Roepke also were part of winning relay teams.

St. Francis swims at Davis next Wednesday.

“Next week is going to be our biggest test of the year with Davis,” said Levin. “They are the powerhouse now in our new league and swimming against them is going to be our new test. Hopefully we can build upon this meet today.”
