SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sophomore Molly Wilson and senior Tiffany Wong both advanced to the Sac-Joaquin Section Diving Finals on Saturday.  They will compete for a berth in the CIF State Diving Championships May 20-21 in Clovis.

“I think today went pretty well,” said Wilson. “(I was happy) with my reverse one-and-a-half. I got 8s on it. I have improved a lot in the past year.”

Wilson was second overall with an All-American qualifying score of 411.45 to place behind Rachel Choi of Rio Americano, who recorded a 418.55.

Senior Tiffany Wong, who won the Delta League title last week, was fourth overall with a score of 373. 40.

“It was not my best today but it was OK,” said Wong. “I am going to have better come outs and come out on time on Saturday. I was a little late today.”

Katarina Yo was 14th overall and was eliminated after eight dives. The Top 12 completed the 11 dive schedule and top eight advanced to compete in the finals.

“It is going to be tough but hopefully I can make it to states,” said Wilson. “It would mean a lot and would show how much I have improved since last year.”

Sophomore Julia Endicott was the only Frosh/Soph qualifier, posting a score of 331.50 for her 11-dive schedule. Camille Lutes (231.25) was ninth overall and Izzie Linne was 11th with a score of 211.90.

Frosh-Soph finals start at 8:30 a.m. with varsity finals at 12:30 p.m. Warm ups begin at 8:00 a.m. and 12 Noon, respectively.
