Track and Field Defeats Elk Grove

CARMICHAEL, Calif. – St. Francis swept the dual meet with Elk Grove Wednesday night, posting a 83-36 win in the varsity meet with a 71-23 victory in the Frosh/Soph.

Senior Lilly Enes had career-bests in winning the 100m (12.68) and placing second in the 200m (25.73). Kiani Reyna won the 400 meters in 1:01.80, while Alana Appel (2:58.16) was second in the 800 meters. In the hurdles, Elizabeth Hennessy was first in the 100mh in 17.23.

Senior Chase Worthen was second in the 1600 (5:24.06) and Sydney Vandegrift crossed the line first in the 3200 (11:02.03). Juliana Cerezo-Rangel won the discus with a throw of 103-4.Nicole Spring doubled in the long and triple jumps in her final tune-up before Stanford.

The Frosh/Soph meet, Sophie DeBenedetti won both the 800m and 1600m.

In earlier action during spring break, Katherine Gaston had a pair of personal-bests at the Rio Linda Invitational in winning the 200 and 400 meters. Enes led a sweep in the 100 meters and Worthen (1,600), Jordan Walsh (High Jump) and Meagan Rogers (Long and Triple Jump) had runner-up finishes.

St. Francis will be represented at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto on Friday and Saturday.
