Track Athletes Win Three Events at Sac State Classic

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Three student-athletes won their events Saturday as part of an impressive season-opening performance by the St. Francis track and field program at the Sacramento State Track Classic.

Junior Ariane Arndt won the 800 meters in 2:22.32, senior Peyton Bilo won the 1600 meters in 5:06.03 and sophomore Elizabeth Hennessy crossed the line first in the 300-meter hurdles in 47.54.

Overall, the Troubadours posted 16 top-10 finishes at the meet.

Senior Miranda Myers was fourth in the 3200 meters in 11:29.33 and senior Sydney Hunter clocked a 26.01 to finish sixth in the 200 meters. Freshman Ava Nkadi was fifth in the 1600 meters behind Bilo and Nicole Spring jumped to a third-place finish in the long jump (16-3.5). Samantha Ruggles was third and eighth in the shot put and discus, respectively.

The Troubadours also had a strong 4×100-meter relay team that was second in 49.32, while the 4×800-meter relay team crossed fifth overall in 10:54.09.

The team will have a practice meet at Oak Ridge on Wednesday before opening up the regular season on March 18 with a dual meet at Monterey Trail.
