SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis varsity volleyball team defeated El Camino in three sets 25-17, 25-14, 25-17 in the final prep for Delta League play Tuesday night.

“It felt amazing and was a really fun experience,” said junior Jessica Gianulias. “We were all really happy on the court and had a good time playing.”

St. Francis (6-7) starts Delta League play on Thursday against Pleasant Grove.

“We are excited and ready,” said Gianulias.

Head Coach Alynn Wright said the team had a good team effort and got contributions from across the roster.

“It was nice to play with confidence,” said Wright. “Aside from the first five points of the game, we played with confidence and in control. Everyone played well tonight. I was able to get everyone in and they all contributed. I thought Jess did a fabulous job. Baily did a good job hitting outside in the first set and defensively we played scrappy.”

St. Francis opens with Pleasant Grove on Thursday. Matches start at 4 p.m.

“Everybody in league will play their best against us,” said Wright. “We have to continue to ride the tide of being consistent and developing who we are as a team.”
