Volleyball Sends Seniors Out with Win

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis volleyball team posted a 3-0 win over Franklin to send their five seniors out on a winning note in the final regular season home match. The Troubadours posted a 25-2, 25-10, 25-15 win over the Wildcats.

“It was a really exciting game and we were all ready and prepared to win tonight,” said senior Emily Davis. “We wanted to play hard and show our senior pride for our last home game. It was an exciting way for it end.”

Senior Claire Barbe led the team with 15 kills, while freshman Alexa Edwards had 13 kills and 10 digs/

“I think we played really well especially in the first set,” said Claire Schutz. “Sometimes it is easy to not start off super strong, especially when you are excited, but we did really well.”

The five seniors including Davis, Claire Barbe, Jessica Gianulias, Kelsey Grover and Claire Schutz were honored before the game.

“It was surreal,” said Schutz of her senior day. “I almost did not expect this day to come. Everyone did such a good job. Our shirts are real nice and the gym looked great.”

St. Francis won the first set 25-2 and cruised to a three-set sweep. SF closed with Monterey Trail before beginning the playoffs next week. They will enter as the No. 3 seed out of the Delta League.
