SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sophomore Olivia Alcoran has been selected one of 24 girls nationwide by The First Tee to participate in the 2017 John Deere Drive Your Future Academy in Atlanta, GA on June 19-22.

She’ll have a chance to win a $5,000 scholarship plus the opportunity to be a VIP guest and pro-am participant at the John Deere Classic in July 2017. The event will take place at East Lake GC, the site of the TOUR Championship and final event of the PGA Tour FedEx Cup series.

This all-girls event will focus on leadership development, remaining active in the game of golf, learning the value/impact of volunteerism, and recognizing the importance of teamwork.

Applicants were asked to define the people or circumstances that ‘drive’ them to take on a position of leadership and describe how they plan to apply those principles in their life.

Alcoran was named the team’s Most Valuable Player and the winner of the Integrity in the Moment Award. She played every match, posting a team-best 38.7 scoring average in dual matches. She earned a team-best medalist honors two times during the season.
