Senior Kristi Lee Ties for Medalist Honors Versus Franklin

STOCKTON, Calif. – Senior Kristi Lee posted a team-best 40 Monday to lead St. Francis to a dual match victory over Franklin at The Reserve at Spanos Park.

Lee has led or tied for team-best honors in five straight matches, helping the Troubadours to a perfect 6-0 mark in dual play.

Lee was one-under par thru her first five holes Monday, birdieing the par-five second hole.

“I had a really good drive, the second shot was pretty good to,” said Lee recalling her play. “My third shot (to the green) was five feet from the hole and I was able to sink that for a birdie.”

She went off the tee at the sixth hole at one-under par, dreaming of a personal-best round.

“I am feeling great,” said Lee of the moment on the tee. “I thought I had a good chance of playing one of my career bests for this year. Unfortunately it did not happen that way but overall I am really proud with how I played today.”

Lee finished five-over over the final four holes to tie for low round of the match with Franklin’s Courtney Cervellin.

“I am happy that I am playing very consistent right now,” said Lee. “I think it is good for me and the team because as a group we are very consistent. To be part of it feels very good.”

Freshman Olivia Alcoran was two shots back with a 42, while senior Kate Swanson recorded a 43.

St. Francis could play at the Reserve again this season with the Masters Tournament held at the course on Nov. 2. The team will need to get out of the first round of sections on Oct. 26.

“It is really nice to have a practice round going into it,” said Swanson. ‘It is good to get a feel for what the course is playing like right now and what the green ate like. It was not the best round (for me) but I hoping the real one will be better. Any round, no matter how you play, you can draw yourself a map for the next time you play.”

Freshman Patricia Sweeney carded a 44 on Monday, while sophomores Chase Saca and Lauren Liberatore recorded rounds of 45 and 50, respectively.

St. Francis plays in the second Delta League Center match next Monday before closing out the dual schedule against Monterey Trail on Wednesday. Both matches are at Wildhawk Golf Course.
