Tennis Closes Home Slate with 7-2 Win

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sophomore Avery Spector led the singles charge with a straight set sweep without dropping a game as St. Francis closed their Delta River League home action with a 7-2 victory over Folsom.

Spector defeated Joanne Wu 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. The Troubadours also got victories from Kendall Spector, Jane Sadler, Anna Kropf and Perneet Powar.

Micah Dial and Abby Benvenuti provided a key win at No. 2 doubles with a hard fought 7-5, 6-4 victory. The duo trailed 4-1 in the first set before winning six of the next seven games to post a come-from-behind 7-5 win. They then closed out the match 6-4 while fighting off the pending darkness.

Annie Gianulias and Megan Khan also won at No. 3 doubles.

St. Francis (7-2) closes the regular season on Thursday at Pleasant Grove.
