Water Polo Closes Nor Cals with Overtime Loss

PALO ALTO, Calif. – Senior Lauren Charter scored four times in an overtime loss to Acalanes to close play at the Nor Cal Championships Saturday for the St. Francis water polo team.

The Troubadours led at the break 5-3 and had a two-goal lead entering the fourth. But Acalanes scored twice in the fourth to tie the game and won the game with three goals in overtime.

Juniors Jennalyn Barthels, Kira Chavez and Maggie Oys also scored in the contest.

St. Francis opened the day with a 6-3 loss to Davis in the second game between the rivals this week. Charter, Sam Reinl and Ali Tambornini scored for the Troubadours.

Charter scored eight goals over the weekend in four games at the Nor Cal Championships to lead the Troubadours.

St. Francis will open play at the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs on Saturday, Nov. 8 against a yet to be determined opponent.
