River Cats All-City Team
11 Troubaours Receive Local Honor

The Sacramento River Cats recognized their 2014-15 All-City team before today’s baseball game. Eleven Troubadours were selected to the respective sports all-city teams and senior soccer player Anna Gregg was named the River Cats Girls Soccer Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.

St. Francis Represented at First Swimming & Diving Championships

CLOVIS, Calif. – Freshman diver Julia Coss and junior swimmer Emily Peters will represent St. Francis in the first CIF Swimming and Diving State Championships that begin on Friday, May 22. Clovis West High School is hosting the event.

Coss, who is one of four freshmen on the start list, will dive in the morning starting at 8:30 a.m., while Peters will swim in the 50-meter freestyle event. The prelims begin at 2:30 p.m.

Swimmers Cap Section Meet with Two State Finalists, Fourth-Place Finish

LODI, Calif. – Juniors Emily Peters and Chloe Mitchell both qualified for the first CIF State Championships and the St. Francis swimming team placed fourth overall in the varsity meet at the Sac-Joaquin Section Swimming Championships held at Tokay High School.

“I love that aspect about swimming as a sport,” said Peters. “We individually represent our team but score points for the St. Francis community and represent St. Francis and what is means to be a Troubie.”

Swimmers Advance 11 Finalists, Three Relays at Sections

LODI, Calif. – The St. Francis swimming team recorded 11 finalists among seven student-athletes in seven different events and all three relays at the Sac-Joaquin Section trials held Thursday at Tokay High School.

Four student-athletes qualified in two events each including Erin Crooks (200 IM and 100 Fly), Katie McIntee (200 Free, 100 Free) and Emily Peters (50 Free, 100 Free).

Junior Chloe Mitchell was the top finisher in the trials with a fourth-place in the 500 freestyle with a personal-best 4:56.48.

Top of the Class: Student-Athletes Rafeld and Cunningham to Take Center Stage at Graduation

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Seniors Annie Rafeld and Cami Cunningham are shining examples of a senior class that has made an impact on the school and the entire Troubie community. On graduation night, they will receive the ultimate honor as the chosen representatives for their class. Rafeld, who is from Granite Bay, is the valedictorian, while Cunningham, a Yuba City product, is the class salutatorian.

Freshman Julia Coss Advances to First CIF State Diving Meet

MODESTO, Calif. – Freshman Julia Coss finished third and earned a berth in the first CIF State Diving Championships to be held May 22 at Clovis West High School. She was one of five divers who competed at the Sac-Joaquin Section finals Saturday at Buchanan High School, the most of any school in the section.

“I am really excited, happy and honored to be one of the top four in the section,” said Coss. “It feels really good. I am really happy with my performance. I am thankful for the experience and I am so proud of how well my team did. We all had a great season.”

Crooks Helps Swimming to School-Best Second at NorCals

ROSEVILLE, Calif. – Senior Erin Crooks posted two top-five finishes and swam on a pair of relays to help St. Francis to a second-place finish at the 2015 NorCal Swimming Championships held at the Roseville Aquatic Center. St. Francis finished with 312 points to place behind only Granite Bay as the Troubadours recorded 23 top-16 performances, including 12 in the top eight.

Lance to Swim at Loyola Marymount

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis senior Kristen Lance will join the Loyola Marymount swimming program next season.

“I am real excited,” said Lance. “I visited and went on a recruit trip this past weekend. The team is a family. I felt already welcomed and part of the team. I love the coach, the campus and I could not be more excited.”

Lance, who is from Carmichael, plans to study political science with a focus in international relations and minor economics.

Swimming Sweeps Elk Grove in Dual Meet

CARMICHAEL, Calif. – St. Francis swept all 11 events to take a dominating 139-27 victory over Elk Grove at Jesuit High School.

Junior Chloe Mitchell and senior Kristen Lance each won two events. Mitchell won the 200-yard freestyle in 2:01.00 and returned to take the 100y free in 56.33. Lance won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:21.32 and the 100y breaststroke in 1:14.05.

Swimming Wins Season-Opening Dual Meet

CARMICHAEL, Calif. – Katie McIntee won the 100-yard and 200-yard freestyle and contributed on two winning relays as the St. Francis swimming team posted a 116-39 victory over Pleasant Grove in the first Delta League meet of the season.

“We were getting our squad that we will be competing with and see how they swim together,” said Head Coach Richard Levin.

McIntee opened with a win in the 200 free in 2:00.88 and came back to win the 100 free in 55.76. She also was part of the 200- and 400-free relay teams that finished first.

Nine St. Francis Seniors Make College Commitments

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Nine St. Francis High School seniors signed a National Letter-of-Intent or made a commitment to play collegiate sports next year at schools across the country Wednesday. They were recognized on campus as part of the school’s formal fall signing day recognition.

The event was broadcast on the TroubieTV Network on PlayOn Sports.
