Fairbrook Scores 21, Huffman Posts Big Double-Double in Win
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sophomore Janae Fairbrook scored a career-best 21 points and Kyra Huffman recorded a double-double to lead St. Francis to a 66-55 victory over Kennedy Saturday afternoon.
Fairbrook hit four three-pointers, including two in the first quarter, among her seven baskets in the game.
Senior Madison Kimball to Sign with Loyola Chicago
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Madison Kimball had a good idea what she was looking for in her college experience. So she took an active role in deciding her path and has found her perfect school. The St. Francis senior is committed to attend and play soccer at Loyola University Chicago.
“I wanted a Jesuit school with a good soccer program and academics,” said Kimball. “We were looking at the different options and my mom asked me about Loyola-Chicago. At first, I thought it might be a little far away.”
Basketball Gets League Win over Sheldon
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Three players scored in double figures among six with seven or more points as St. Francis got back on the winning track with a 70-40 win over Sheldon. The Troubadours improved to 10-5 on the season and 1-3 in Delta League play.
“It felt real good to get our first league win,” said Head Coach Vic Pitton. “We put in a new defense and the girls did a really good job of incorporating it into the plan. I thought they played with a lot of energy and they played together tonight.”
JV Basketball Posts 62-14 Victory at Elk Grove
ELK GROVE, Calif. – Avery Myers and Marlee Nicolos combined for 16 second quarter points as St. Francis posted a big 62-14 victory over Elk Grove Tuesday night.
“We are really jelling together as a team,” said Myers. “In the Christian Brothers game, we found out what we need to do to succeed. It shot up our confidence.”
The Troubadours scored 26 points in the quarter to break open the game, while holding the Thundering Herd to just six points to take a 41-10 lead into the break.
Holy Hoops Game Broadcast on Access Sacramento This Weekend
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Access Sacramento will show the St. Francis-Christian Brothers Holy Hoops game three times this week starting Friday, January 16 at 7 p.m. It will also show on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 11 a.m. and Sunday, January 18 at 3 a.m.
The game was the Hometown Game of the Week. Senior Susie Rogers scored a game-high 14 points to lead St. Francis to a 60-50 victory over Christian Brothers Saturday night to complete the three-game sweep of the Falcons.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senior Susie Rogers scored a game-high 14 points to lead St. Francis to a 60-50 victory over Christian Brothers Saturday night to complete the three-game sweep of the Falcons.
“Susie played an outstanding game from baseline to baseline,” said Head Coach Vic Pitton about Rogers, who scored 12 of her 14 points in the first half.
Fellow senior Isabel Soloaga hit three first-half triples as part of her 11 point night.
Basketball’s Late Rally Falls Short, Builds Confidence for Holy Hoops
SACRAMENTO, Calif. –The St. Francis basketball team used a late rally to close the gap against Delta League rival Davis but fell short 58-54 Friday night as the team fell to 8-4 and 0-2 in league play. The Troubadours erased a 20-point deficit in the fourth quarter that left the team confident heading into the annual Holy Hoops matchup with Christian Brothers Saturday.
Basketball Falls in League Opener
SACRAMENTO, CALIF. – Pleasant Grove posted a 56-27 victory over St. Francis in the league opener Tuesday night.
The Eagles outscored St. Francis 14-2 in the first quarter and never looked back. Kim Schmelz had a game-high 24 points to the lead the scoring for Pleasant Grove.
Kyra Huffman led the Troubadours with 10 points.
Holy Hoops Game to Be Televised by Access Sacramento
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Access Sacramento will televise the St. Francis-Christian Brothers Holy Hoops varsity matchup on Saturday, Jan. 10 as part of the Hometown Sports Game of the Week. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
Access Sacramento Game of the Week can be seen on Comcast and Consolidated Communications (SureWest) cable on Channel 17 and on AT&T U-Verse Channel 14 and 99. All broadcasts are streamed live on the internet on www.AccessSacramento.org (Push Watch TV Channel 17).
Holy Hoops Ticket Information
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Holy Hoops game against Christian Brothers is scheduled for Saturday, January 10 at St. Francis High School. Game times are 2:30 (F), 4:00 (JV) and 5:30 p.m. (V). Tickets will be available to St. Francis students starting Monday, December 29 online. Tickets are $6 each with a $1 service charge, require a coupon code and are print-at-home. The student code was emailed out to the students during finals week. Tickets must be shown at the door. Each student is limited to two tickets each.

JV Basketball Loses in Jan Vittel Championship
PLACERVILLE, Calif. – The St. Francis junior varsity basketball team lost in the finals of the Jan Vittel Tournament on Dec. 30 to host El Dorado. The Troubadours also lost to El Dorado in the finals of the Vista-Folsom Tipoff earlier in the month.

Marlee Nicolos scored a game-high 20 points as St. Francis defeated the El Dorado B team in the first round of the Jan Vittel Tournament on Dec. 27. Amara Allen had 12 points and Logan Kelly added 11 in the win.

Freshmen Basketball Wins Holiday Classic
STOCKTON, Calif. – Nicole Frank was named the Cesar Chavez Holiday Classic Most Valuable Player, leading the St. Francis freshmen team to a 55-22 victory over St. Mary’s Monday afternoon. Morgan Kaeser was also an All-Tournament selection.
Frank scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Troubadours on Monday to record her second 20-point game of the tournament. In three games, she scored 56 points and averaged 18.6 points per game.
Freshmen Basketball Reaches Chavez Classic Championship
STOCKTON, Calif. – Adrienne Graybill scored nine points and Kelly Kraeger added eight as St. Francis posted a 56-36 victory over host Chavez in the Cesar Chavez Holiday Classic. Nicole Frank led the team with 16 points. They advanced to the championship game on Monday at 1:30 p.m. against St. Mary’s.
Freshmen Basketball Opens Holiday Classic with Win
STOCKTON, Calif. – Nicole Frank scored 20 points to lead the St. Francis freshmen team to a 59-14 victory over Buhach County in the first round of the Cesar Chavez Holiday Classic on Friday.
Frank scored 16 points in the first quarter as the Troubadours scored 28 points to take control of the game.
Isabella Quiniola added 12 points, while Kelly Kraeger contributed nine points.
St. Francis will play at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at Cesar Chavez High School.

Basketball Drops Finale at Nike TOC in Phoenix
PHOENIX, Ariz. – St. Francis lost in overtime 59-56 to Huntington Beach to close their appearance in the Nike Tournament of Champions, dropping to 8-2 on the season.
Lauren Craig scored a game-high 20 points with 15 rebounds, including 16 points in the second half. Junior Kyra Huffman had 11 points, nine boards and five steals
The Troubadours led by 10 points early in the second half 28-18 but the Oilers had a strong second half to close the advantage. They hit four three-pointers in the fourth quarter to help the comeback effort.
Basketball Routs Indio to Reach Consolation Final at Nike T.O.C.
PHOENIX, Ariz. – Four players scored in double figures as St. Francis posted a 79-15 win over Indio (Calif.) in the semifinals of the consolation bracket of the Grey Division at the Nike Tournament of Champions.
St. Francis (8-1) was led by 15 points and eight rebounds by junior Lauren Craig. Junior Angie Ortiz scored 14 points and grabbed four boards. Junior Kyra Huffman contributed 11 points, seven steals and five assists.
Basketball defeats Corona del Sol at Nike TOC
PHOENIX, Ariz. – The St. Francis basketball team defeated Tempe Corona del Sol Friday afternoon 49-36 in the consolation bracket of the Grey Division at the Nike Tournament of Champions.
“The difference in the game was our defensive energy in the second half,” said junior Angie Ortiz, who had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. “We picked it up and got more deflections which led to more turnovers and more points for us.”
