18 Troubadours Earn SportsStars Magazine All-City Honors
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis athletic department had 18 student-athletes recognized on the SportStars™ Magazine All-City team presented by the Sacramento River Cats prior to Sunday’s River Cats game at Raley Field.
St. Francis had the second-best total in the section, trailing only Davis (21), and one of four schools with more than 10 honors including Oak Ridge (13) and Granite Bay (10) on the girl’s teams.
Swimming Sets Stage with Section Trials Performances
LODI, Calif. – Senior Emily Bartylla accomplished what every athlete hopes for in their final performance, swimming a personal-best in her signature event.
“She did a 1:10 as a freshman and she had not broken it since in high school,” said Head Coach Richard Levin. “To do that in her final swim, we both shared a tear together. It was a great way to send her off.”

Softball Clinches Section Playoff Berth
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis softball team won their last two Delta League games highlighted by a 10-0 win over Monterey Trail Tuesday in the Senior Game to clinch a Sac-Joaquin Section playoff berth.
“We are extremely happy,” said Head Coach Kevin Warren. “Our backs were against the wall. They came back in yesterday’s game against Franklin and hit the heck out of the ball.”
Lacrosse Battles Oak Ridge Tough in NCS Playoffs
EL DORADO HILLS, Calif. – The Oak Ridge lacrosse team, the No. 2 seed in the North Coast Section playoffs and ninth-ranked team in the nation, defeated St. Francis 17-6 in a first-round game Tuesday night.
“Today we showed what type of team we were and we can compete at this level,” said senior Juliette Vielhauer.
The Troubadours opened a 4-1 lead on the Trojans, who had eliminated the team from the Sacramento Valley Lacrosse league playoffs last week.
Junior Varsity Lacrosse Selects Team Awards
RANCHO MURIETA, Calif. – The St. Francis junior varsity team celebrated their record-breaking season with their awards dinner on May 6. The team finished with an 11-3 overall mark, the most wins by the JV program in school history. The team finished the season with an 8-6 win over Davis, a team that defeated St. Francis 15-4 earlier in the season.
Track and Field Second Entering Delta League Finals
Elk Grove, Calif. – The St. Francis track and field team was led by pole vault champion Meghan Ladd in scoring 18 points Friday in the opening day of the Delta League Championships. The Troubadours scored 18 points on the night in three finals and advanced 18 student-athletes in the trials to next week’s finals.
Ladd won the pole vault with a clearance at 10-11 and the Troubadours received a fourth-place finish by Isabelle Rudis in the triple jump (34-9.25) and sixth-place by Sarah Healey in the shot put (29-7) in finals contested Friday.
Senior Molly Wilson Finishes Second at Sections
Updated Results: After an error was discovered in the calculation of the results, Wilson was determined to be in second place to Melia Stout (447.95-445.60).
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senior Molly Wilson won her third straight Sac-Joaquin Section diving title on Friday with an 11-dive total of 415.60 and will advance to the CIF State Diving Championships.
Lacrosse Loses to Oak Ridge in SVL Semifinals
EL DORADO HILLS, Calif. – Junior Jade Borg and freshman Maggie Price each had two goals but St. Francis lost in the semifinals of the Sacramento Valley Lacrosse League playoffs 12-6 to top seed Oak Ridge on Tuesday night.
“I coached a team that believed they could win the game,” said Head Coach Julia Southard. “They were an inspired group led by our seniors. It was a fun game to watch and be part of. Our kids truly feel they can compete with any team in our league.”

Athletics to Host Annual Sports Physical Night on June 6
St. Francis will be hosting Sports Physical Night for the 2018-19 school year on June 6 with registration starting at 5 p.m. The cost of the physical is $25 per student.
Swimming & Diving Finishes Second at League Meet
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis swimming and diving team finished second overall to Davis at the 2018 Della League Championships. The Blue Devils out-scored the Troubies 615-504 at American River College. Overall, the team placed 18 swimmers in ‘A’ Finals and recorded eight top-three finishes in the meet including relays.
Junior Sarah Healey Leads Win over Monterey Trail, Grant

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Junior Sarah Healey won the shot put and discus events in personal-record fashion to help St. Francis post a 82-42 win over Monterey Trail. Grant did not participate in the meet.
Track and Field Continues Top Performances at Halden Invite
DAVIS, Calif. – The St. Francis track and field team continued to post top performances at the Halden Invitational last Saturday hosted by Davis High School.
The spring group had Isabelle Grassel (12.42) and Chanel Grimes (12.70) finished second and fourth, respectively in personal-best times. Senior Amanda Roina also posted a season-best in the event (13.83).
Diving Takes Top Spots at Delta League Meet
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis diving team took the top two spots in both the varsity and junior varsity diving league champs on Thursday.
Senior Molly Wilson repeated as champion with a score of 447 (All American Qualifying Score) and sophomore Maddy Miles was second with a 342 score for her 11 dives. Wilson earned All-Delta League status with her win.
Freshman Sydney Smith won the JV meet with a personal-best 303, while freshman Sammie Calagna was second with a 289.

Costa Rica Field Trip 2019
This is a 9-day trip touring the country of Costa Rica. Students will be immersed in the language, culture, and nature of this beautiful country. We will travel by private bus, zipline, and boats to see the rain forests, volcano, rivers, Caribbean and Pacific Oceans, local villages, schools, churches, and Costa Rican people. The trip will be from April 22 – 30, 2019.

Track and Field Celebrates Seniors at Final League Meet
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis track and field team celebrated their 15 seniors Wednesday before the final regular season home meet against Franklin and Pleasant Grove. The student-athletes and their families took the field before the meet to be recognized for their tie and dedication to the program.

Lacrosse’s Bauman Back on the Field after Brain Tumor Scare
Bauman Has Scored 21 Goals This Season
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Less than 10 months ago, sophomore Gabby Bauman was diagnosed with a cavernoma in her brain. While she had successful surgery, she temporarily lost the use of her left arm and needed to relearn how to walk. Today you could never tell things were so scary just a few months ago after watching her have a successful season of lacrosse.
Lacrosse Wins Battle of St. Francis
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – For the second time in as many years, the two local Catholic schools in Northern California named in honor of St. Francis met on the lacrosse field. The Troubadours of St. Francis prevailed on Saturday over the Lancers of Saint Francis located in Mountain View.
“We played really good as a team and a family,” said senior Libby Price. ‘It made me really happy. At the end, we came together and focused on the game plan and executed.”
Volleyball’s Schildmeyer Named Esmark High School All-America
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis senior Mady Schildmeyer was named an Esmark High School All-American.
Schildmeyer, who is from El Dorado Hills, was an All-Delta League first team selection in 2017. She led the league in assists with 1,107 over 114 sets for a 9.7 per set average, ranking sixth and ninth statewide in Division I.
New Date for Annual Used Uniform Sale (5/10/18)
The annual Used Uniform Sale has a new date! This year the sale will be on May 10, 2018, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Weather permitting, the sale will be held near the main school entrance.
The gates will open promptly at 4:00 p.m., no sooner.
There will be NO sale of used uniforms at Sports Physical Night.
Softball Wins Second in a Row Behind Hatch
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Junior pitcher Arden Hatch pitched the Troubies to a victory for the second consecutive game this week as St. Francis defeated Grant 14-1 Thursday.
“I was sticking to what I know and the pitches that work for me,” said Hatch. “I was keeping the ball off the plate and keeping the batters off balance, mixing in different pitches.”
Hatch threw six innings, allowing just one run (unearned) on two hits with a career-high 13 strikeouts, equaling her total from her entire sophomore season.

First Hall of Fame Class to be Honored This Fall
The St. Francis High School Athletics department will induct its first Hall of Fame class this fall on November 17, 2018. We are looking for nominations of Troubadour alumnae, coaches, teams and contributors.
Accessible Seating for Graduation and Baccalaureate Mass
We are now taking requests for accessible seating at Graduation and at Baccalaureate Mass. A separate request must be completed for each event and the deadline is Friday, May 18th for both.
